Editorial policy
Curious County Review aims to make county geography and local history clear without making the evidence say more than it does. We check factual claims against suitable sources, explain uncertainty and correct the record when we get something wrong.
Accuracy and context
We check names, dates, map details and historical claims against relevant records and reliable published material. When sources disagree, or a place-name origin is uncertain, we say so rather than presenting one explanation as settled. We distinguish documented information from interpretation and avoid implying that a present-day boundary or identity has always been fixed.
Independence and corrections
Editorial decisions are made for readers, not to promote a partner or contributor. If a story contains an error, we review the correction, update the text where appropriate and make the change clear to readers. Readers can send corrections through the Contact page; useful specifics include the article, the disputed detail and the basis for the suggested change.
Partner material and illustrations
Paid partnerships and other material made with a partner are clearly labelled so readers can tell them apart from independent editorial work. A partner does not receive editorial control over unrelated coverage. Some illustrations may be AI-generated; when an illustration is not a documentary image, it is labelled accordingly.
A county is a story told in place
Maps, names and records offer different clues. Put them together and familiar ground starts to read differently.
